The Handy Homemaker

Channeling Doc McStuffins

I preformed my first, successful stuffed animal surgery!

My son sleeps with Mr. Fox every night. He has only consistently been sleeping with him (in his crib) for about six months, so I’m not sure how the fox’s leg got injured. Whatever the case, one of the back legs was starting to detach and the stuffing was exposed.

I am NOT a seamstress. My husband often teases me because I don’t know how to repair hems, let alone sew a garment from scratch. Listen, I did not PLAN for this life. I did not take home economics…but I really wish I would have.

I used to watch my mom sew a bit, and my grandmother taught me to crochet, but I never really took the time to develop those kind of skills. Let’s just say I let quite a few perfectly good clothes sit in the closet because they needed a minor repair. I couldn’t do that to Mr. Fox though.

I had an idea of where to start, but I got help from a YouTube tutorial.

I fished my sewing kit from the front closet…also known as the closet where crafts/projects go to rest…and found all the materials I needed.

The whole process took under 30 minutes, and Mr. Fox is as good as new. Although I wouldn’t call myself an expert, I’m pretty proud.
